As the Crow Flies

As the crow flies east, so do we.
Deciding when to say goodbye ain’t easy.

Since I was a boy, I dreamed of California.
Back when I was twenty couldn’t imagine it could come true.
Then I was twenty-five, arrived and never dreamed of leaving.
Since yesterday I knew we had to.

We came, we saw, we conquered our-
selves & all this golden state had to off-
er us, it was abundant. We’ll
be back again.
(You’ll see)

Loving hard for a time’s just fine.
So’s heading out when the time is right.
Import now, an export then.
Prodigal stranger in a once homeland.
Bringing that which can’t be left behind:
Sierra blood, Pacific mind.
Oakland heart, wild San Francisco nights.

We came, we saw, we conquered our-
selves & all this golden state had to off-
er us, it was abundant. We’ll
be back again.
(You’ll see)

On the wing.
Riding on thunder & wind
through the plains in dark of night.
East we go, as the crow flies.

Mendocino

Getting out of town, let it be gone.
Drive up 101, let it be known.
Three empty days ahead, for-ward thus,
rubbing elbows with some other roughs.

Lean & light milky ways
make space between the logs for breath & air.
The flames glow, less is more.
Behold, the power of reduction!
Eagerness subsides as stillness arrives & the veins start to thrive.

————————————————————–

An irony arises:
the state of infinite connection, oh how high the harmony,
while being completely, physically alone is proof:
We are all kosmos.

The clouds our hometowns,
planet ancestors,in orbit, invisible
silver trails & traces, celestial
reflected & rippling lake of universal blue:
INTO the night-pine true-light myth-lined mind-hue

Lincoln Locomotive
Lincoln locomotive coming,
lumbering down along the line.
Here it comes, the whistle’s blowing,
gettin’ on or off this time?

————————————————————–

What’s your loco-motive, honey?
Going to sea or shore this time?
Got your bags, can I lend a hand?
Where you’re going, do you need plans?

————————————————————–

Lincoln locomotive coming,
lumbering down along the line.
Here it comes, the whistle’s blowing,
gettin’ on or off this time?
Gettin’ on or off this time?

————————————————————–

Conductor is calling out now,
Sun setting behind the trees.
Ten car Lincoln locomotive,
leaves the station, picks up steam.

Here it comes, the whistle’s blowing,
gettin’ on or off this time?
Gettin’ on or off this time?
You gettin’ on or off this time?
